Thetford Enduro Duathlon Report

Although it was a slightly chilly start, competitors participating in our Enduro Duathlon enjoyed the October sunshine that still carried some warmth as the day progressed.

This was the second running of what is a 3-hour challenge, The idea is to complete run and bike laps until the time elapses. Each run and each bike count as individual laps. Once the time is up you can finish the lap you are on, with any time difference between those on the same lap calculated to work out finishing positions…simple right!

The course consists of 2.75km trail run snaking its way through the trees. Participants then transition to a 6.5km bike course consisting of mixed surfaces including a section of twisty single track to add a bit of fun and make sure everyone stays focused.

The difficult bit in this (apart from the fact that’s it’s 3 hours) is probably the transitions, especially from bike to run and particularly as fatigue sets in. On the other hand, you can stop for a break, restart when you like or call it a day when it suits.

We had 3 teams (one runner / one cyclist) and 18 solo starters. Every single person did an amazing job out on course. Whilst we might have offered a bit of friendly banter during the event, it was impressive to watch.

Congratulations to all who took part and especially our winners John Beardsworth, Nicole Beck and for the teams Natalie Chandler & Steven Munden who were all on fire!

Here’s the full results.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the event and format again this year so hopefully we can develop this a bit more next year – see you there!

Massive thanks to Andrew, Sheila, Tom, Nikki, Steve and Katie who provided us with cake (including some with our logo on!) for all their efforts over the weekend.
