Events Update
This year has flown by so far and it’s almost time for our Autumn/Winter schedule to kick into gear. We have lots of events planned, but there has also been a number of enforced changes we need to tell you about.
You can see all our events currently open for entry here.
Adult Duathlon Series
Dates for this popular series have now been set for 2023/4 and can found on the duathlon series page of our website here (which has been updated, but needs a few more additions). We have opened entry for the first 4 events on Entrycentral.
We had intended to continue running these events through British Triathlon under the new Swim Bike Run initiative that replaces the GO TRI! branding. However, this has proved impossible as British Triathlon were insistent we would have to charge £20 (a big jump from £12.50). and change the event distances significantly. After much discussion we decided this wouldn’t be the right direction for us. We also looked at simply permitting the event as full BTF affiliated event like we do for some of our larger events, but this would not have been financially or practically viable either.
Whilst this is really disappointing, it will have little impact on how these events run.
We have reluctantly increased the entry fee to £15 (including service charges) as our costs have gone up massively in the past year or so (insurance costs increased by a third for example).
Anyway, we hope you will continue to join us and enjoy these events as always – who knows maybe you will claim your series award this year?!
Junior Duathlon Series
This 4-event series for our younger participants will run in October, November, February & March. We are exploring options for a slightly different course if it’s possible to keep things interesting. More details will follow soon.
Enduro Duathlon
This is planned for 15th October and will follow the same 3-hour run-bike-run and repeat format of previous years. We are hoping to open entries very soon once we have confirmation on the route from Forestry England.
Stradbroke Fun Aquathlons
These swim/run events continue once a month on a Monday evening through to at least March 2024. The last of our summer events takes place on 25th September, after which we will shake things up by doing the run first followed by a swim to warm up during the cooler months.
These events are funded by British Triathlon as part of their new Swim Bike Run initiative which replaces the GO TRI! branding.
See you soon!
